The architect of impact behind Digi4Good
"Transformation isn't a software update; it's a cultural shift. I founded Digi4Good to bridge the gap between high-level technology and the unique heartbeat of the third sector."
A career spent making technology work for people
Gary Wheway
Digital transformation leader. Fundraising strategist. Charity executive. Practitioner.
Gary Wheway is the founder of Digi4Good and an experienced charity leader with more than 20 years’ experience working across fundraising, income generation, strategy, digital transformation, technology, data and organisational change.
Throughout his career, Gary has worked at senior leadership and executive level within major national charities as well as small and medium-sized organisations. He has led teams, developed strategies, transformed fundraising operations, introduced new technology, improved the use of data and insight, and delivered significant increases in voluntary income.
Across more than 20 years in the charity sector, Gary has personally raised millions of pounds in voluntary income, working across major national charities as well as small and medium-sized organisations. He has seen first-hand what drives income growth, and how the combination of people, strategy, data, technology and digital can unlock significantly greater potential.
This is an important part of what makes Gary’s approach to digital transformation different.
He isn’t approaching technology from the outside.
He has lived and breathed the challenges that charities face, working with legacy systems, fragmented data, limited resources, competing priorities, complex governance and teams that need technology to work for them rather than create more complexity.
His career in fundraising has also given him a practical understanding of how organisations use data to make better decisions. From CRM architecture and data quality through to analysis, segmentation, propensity modelling, performance reporting and digital engagement, Gary has consistently used data and technology to understand audiences, improve performance and identify opportunities for growth.
Alongside his fundraising and organisational leadership experience, Gary has developed significant expertise in digital transformation, technology strategy, CRM, data and insight, automation, AI adoption and responsible AI governance.
He has led the development of digital strategies, connected technology ecosystems, introduced new digital solutions, developed AI approaches and helped teams build the skills and confidence to work differently.
But Gary believes transformation begins with people.
Technology can enable change, but it is people who make transformation happen. Successful transformation requires an understanding of an organisation’s culture, its people, their capabilities, their concerns and the way they actually work. It requires leadership, communication, engagement and the confidence to do things differently.
That is why Gary’s approach starts with the organisation and its people — not the technology.
From there, the focus is on understanding what the organisation is trying to achieve.
Where is income being lost or left on the table? Where are teams spending unnecessary time? What does the data tell us? Where are systems creating friction? What could be automated? How could digital engagement improve? And where could AI genuinely help an organisation work smarter, make better decisions or increase its impact?
That combination of fundraising expertise, organisational leadership, people, data insight and digital transformation, is at the heart of Digi4Good.
Gary founded Digi4Good because he believes charities and purpose-led organisations should have access to high-quality digital transformation expertise that understands the reality of the sector — not simply the technology.
Digi4Good brings together strategy, fundraising, digital, technology, data and AI to help organisations unlock income, improve performance, work more efficiently and create greater impact.
Whether that means unlocking the voluntary income potential within an organisation’s data, transforming a CRM and digital infrastructure, developing an AI strategy, automating processes or helping leaders understand where technology can create the greatest value, Gary brings practical experience of having done it himself.
He doesn’t just advise organisations on transformation. He has lived it, breathed it and delivered it.
From major national charities to smaller purpose-led organisations, Gary understands that successful transformation has to work in the real world — for the organisation, for its people and ultimately for the people and communities it exists to serve.
That is the thinking behind Digi4Good.
Technology should amplify purpose — not complicate it.

Why Digi4Good exists
Purpose-led organisations are shut out of the calibre of digital expertise the private sector takes for granted. Digi4Good closes that gap, with empathy, not jargon.
The philosophy
Transformation is a cultural shift, not a software update. Digi4Good partners with people first and technology second, always anchored to mission and impact.
